† Altec Lansing VS4121 For RM199 Only †

I've been looking for an Altec Lansing for some time already and finally I've found one. This is seriously a good deal. Altec Lansing VS4121 for only RM199 from Harvey Norman.

Properties:
1. 2x 20cm height satellites.
2. 1x 30cm height subwoofer.
3. Black in color.
4. Red light.

I almost bought VS4121 from other shops for RM269 in Kuantan, then I found another shop in One Utama Damansara with the price of RM225, and another shop selling it at the price of RM215. Many thanks to be credited to my girl friend Alicia who insisted on paying Harvey Norman a visit and I've decided to buy VS4121 at the price of RM199!!

† Why Use Mozilla Firefox †

There are so many internet browsers available out there and many people only know about Internet Explorer (IE). I've been using Mozilla Firefox for 5 years and personally I think it is so far the most suitable browser for me. Google Chrome and Opera are considered not bad but still, I think something's missing somewhere. So why do I use Mozilla Firefox?

1. It is easily located from your browser, easily downloaded and installed. After you've downloaded the installer, simply double click the installer (firefox.exe) and click 'next' all the way until 'finished'.

2. Customization of add-ons is the fun thing about Mozilla Firefox. Users can choose many types of useful and fancy add-ons (fasterfox, adblock, noscript... ) from the Mozilla homepage, making your their Firefox personalized. However, the only drawback about this add-ons idea is that it may confuse many new users of Firefox.

3. Mozilla Firefox is safer than many other browsers because of its ability to block the background running scripts and ads. The two important add-ons that I'm using for almost 5 years are NoScript and AdBlockPlus. As you can see from the image above, there are so many scripts being blocked from being downloaded into your computer, making your websites safe to visit. Note that when you're using NoScript, you need to 'allow' or 'temporary allow' certain important script of a website in order for the site to function properly.
  • FaceBook: fbcdn.net and facebook.com
  • Blogspot: blogger.com and blogspot.com
  • YouTube: ytmg.com and youtube.com

4. Faster loading time for a page is the most important thing to me. Sometimes it can be very annoying if you couldn't get into the page you wanted to visit. However with the use of Fasterfox, one of the famous add-ons, the loading time for a page has become faster than I thought.

5. An enhanced download manager is one of the features of Mozilla Firefox. DownThemAll is so far the best download manager I've ever found in Mozilla Firefox. Very interestingly, DownThemAll allows you to download multiple files from a website at once and these files will be neatly categorized according to their extension such as exe, jpeg, avi or mpeg. Most importantly, DownThemAll can boost your download speed so much that it can reach up to 50% higher than you expected. For example, my download speed is usually 42kb/s and it reaches 67kb/s after using DownThemAll.

6. As for this point, most bloggers or advanced html users will be happy about it because Mozilla Firefox enables users to view the detailed page source of the website and most importantly it would allow the users to view the html codes of the page.

7. Neat and tidy is one of the factors that made me choose to use Mozilla Firefox. The good thing about Mozilla Firefox is that all the links will be opened in different compartments known as 'tabs' located one single window box. Unlike the old version of IE, each pop up links will be opened in different windows, making your window taskbar looks so messy. There are a few important hotkeys that you should know when you're using Mozilla Firefox.
  • CTRL + T to open a new tab
  • CTRL + Tab to switch between tabs

8. Tired of retyping your usernames and passwords? I think Mozilla Firefox gives a good service in remembering passwords thus reducing the typing workload of the users. The only drawback about this service is that people tend not to remember their password.

† My Lenovo S10-2 †

What a sad moment... My 5 year-old HP Pavilion DV1000 laptop has finally 'dead'. It has suffered from impaired battery life, dysfunctional altered audio speaker, discoloration of the LCD screen and sometimes there's this electric current transmitted from the metal piece on its keyboard.

Laptop is a very important tool to me and I must bring it no matter where I go. However I realize that carrying a 2.3kg laptop around is not as easy as you think. Thus I've decided to change my taste by going for something really small which is a netbook.

It wasn't easy to make your choice because there are so many types of nice netbook around you. Toshiba, Fujitsu, Asus, Acer, Dell, HP, etc... I realize the expensive ones are brands like Toshiba and Fujitsu whereas cheaper ones are Acer and Dell. Its really not easy to choose because certain brands are expensive and cheerful but some are cheap and nasty. Its all depend on what you're looking for.

Finally I've decided to get Lenovo's S10-2. You might ask me why. Well there, first of all, it only costs me RM1299 and it has Windows 7. There's also another model of S10-2 that only costs RM1199 but its running in Windows XP.

What I like about Lenovo S10-2:
1. Its light and small. Without the battery, I think its less than 1.2kg.
2. Slim and the design looks good.
3. It has sufficient amount of USB ports, in total of 3.
4. Intel Atom N270 1.6GHz | 1GB DDR2 | 160GB HDD | 10.1″ LCD are considered not bad.
5. The keyboard is better than my father's Fujitsu netbook. Its easier to type somehow.

What I don't like about Lenovo S10-2
1. No express card slot.
2. Protruding battery because the battery seems a little bit bulky.
3. Only 1GB RAM... Why can't it be 2GB?

Well there, I hope this piece of little netbook will last me for at least 5 years and of course it all depends on how am I going to use it.

† Naked Wood: Natural Trend of iPod Gadget? †

It seems that an organic new trend has becoming more and more popular among the electronic gadgets nowadays. Earlier you've seen the Bamboo Asus Laptop, and now here we have a few interesting designs of wooden iPod and iPhone gadgets I've found from Etsy.

Of course when we think of gadget, we'll often think of high-tech shiny metal, aluminum, and definitely not wood. Maybe this is one of the reasons that wooden gadgets start to pop-up everywhere.

Its similar to the concept of 'soft-toys ain't cute' by Mori Chack. Since everyone think that gadgets are made of metal, so here we have a wooden gadget for everyone.

These wood logs may look simple and decent but they are in fact quite expensive. These docks may cost range from $60 to $100.

Such design is truly eye-soothing and I think this trend goes well with the green movement. Most importantly, such wooden gadget design has provided an expression of the beauty of the nature.

† Ego LifeStyle: Love Edition †

Have you ever heard of the brand Ego LifeStyle? Well, if you look at the pictures above and below, you might think its a briefcase. The answer is wrong, its not a briefcase and you know what, its actually a laptop.

Ego LifeStyle has a great design, making the laptop's cover look really cool and luxurious.

The inner part of this laptop is really cool isn't it?

I know Valentine's day has just passed but I think this Valentine's edition of Ego will never gets old and it would be a great gift for your love one no matter what occasion or event you're celebrating.

The whole laptop is pink in color it has a red heart on top the cover, making it looks adorable. On top of it, it has a red leather ribbon tied on the handle of the laptop, with a silver metal heart attached to it.

† Wireless iPod Dock Speaker †

This iPod speaker is so cool and its different from any other iPod speaker that I've ever encountered. First of all, it has a spherical speaker and this makes its design looks futuristic. Secondly, the speakers are detachable and serve as portable wireless speaker. Not to worry about its battery because each speaker is powered by a rechargeable battery which is sufficient for about 8 hours of playback, and when used together they operate in stereo mode, or mono when separated.

After looking at the iPod dock above, I really think that my Sonic Gear iPod dock is really some kind of caveman technology. *sweat*

For the past few years, iPod has been an essential item for people who love music and wishes to bring their music around. Therefore I think iPod users should treat their iPod nicely by giving their iPod a good dock to charge their battery.

† Ocean Rescue †

3/4 of the earth is filled with water and 80% of the 3/4 is sea water that we can't even drink due to its extreme saltiness. Imagine your boat has capsized and you're sailing in the ocean on a piece of wood, without any water. What are you gonna do when you're thirsty? I think its a tough situation for everyone to handle especially when you can see water just right in front of you but you can't even drink them simple because they are salty.

"Ocean Rescue" has an interesting idea and design that aims to help victims of getting lost in the ocean. Not to worry about drinking water as Ocean Rescue is able to use the ocean water to make distilled water by itself.

What an interesting idea of having such mechanism of making distilled water automatically.

Other than making distilled water, Ocean Rescue can also be used as a mini light house floating in the water, catching other people's attention.

It also contains a gas chamber that produces colourful gas to catch helicopter or other boat's attention.
