† Dangerous Food For Your Dogs †

Here's some fact that you should know about the food that you mustn't give to your dogs because it may harm them.

Alcohol: Just like human, alcohol has the same effect on a dog's liver and brain. A small amount of alcohol is enough to cause vomiting, diarrhea, central nervous system depression, problems with coordination, difficulty breathing, coma, even death. And, the smaller the dog, the greater the effect. So if you're a drinker, please keep your brew away.

Onions: Small amount of onions may be okay for your dogs. However, it is found that large amount of onion may destroy a dog's red blood cells. Thus be careful with products that contain onions or even onion powders.

Caffeine: I've experienced palpitation and tremor after drinking 'Ipoh Old Town White Coffee'. Caffeine is no doubt fatal for a dog. Dogs that have ingested caffeine in high amount may experience heart palpitation, muscle tremor, rapid breathing and even fitting. Beware, there's no antidote.

Grapes & Raisins: Small and delicious but a high quantity may cause kidney failure in your dogs. The symptoms of grape toxicity are repeated vomiting, lethargic and depression.

Ice Cream & Dairy Products: Some small size dogs' gastrointestinal tract are not design to absorb highly condensed dairy products and this may cause diarrhea or other symptoms of GI upsets.

Nuts: Some human are allergic to nuts. So we can't exclude the dogs as well. Nuts can kill a dog.

Candy: Some of these candies contain xylitol. Xylitol can increase circulation of insulin in your dog's blood stream and cause your dog's blood sugar to drop (hypoglycemia).

Chocolate: Theobromine in chocolate is a poison to your dogs. Never let your dog taste or even lick any chocolate including white chocolate if you want them to live.

Peaches & Plums: If you're aware of this, the seed of peach and plum contains cyanide and these are poisonous to both human and dogs.

Raw Eggs: I used to think that raw eggs are good. Two problems that you might face if you feed your dog with raw eggs. Firstly, food poisoning caused by bacteria. Secondly, avidin (an enzyme exists in raw eggs) will interferes with the absorption of vitamin B and causing skin problem in dogs.

Your Own Medicines: Keep these away from both your dogs and children. Its a basic!

† Vampire Squid †

This creepy little sea creature known as the 'vampire squid' can be found at almost a kilometers under the sea level. Its name vampire doesn't mean that it will come out at night and suck your blood but there's some other reasons for it. The vampire squid shares shares many similarities with both squid and octopuses and in fact it was originally and mistakenly identified as an octopus by the oceanic researchers in 1903. It was then classified as squid due to most of its similarities to the squid.

The length is approximately 30cm, and it has a pair of big globular blue eyes and ear like fins. If you see the whitish string in the picture above, thats its motion detector used to identify incoming objects.

It has eight arms and unlike the squids and octopuses that we see, it has suckers only at the very end of each arms.

Here's the interesting part about the vampire squid. These eight arms are connected with a webbing of skin, which makes it look like a vampire.

Not only that, this 'cloak' of its has a very unique purpose for its survival in the deep sea. Oxygen is very rare in such environment. All thanks go to its 'cloak' that works as an oxygen captor that allow the vampire squid's to live.

When threatened, the squid can draw its arms up over itself and form a defensive web that covers its body. I was like 'what the heck?' after seeing such mechanism.

So this is the defensive mechanism of the vampire squid whenever it feels threaten or senses the danger, the cloak will cover its entire body, making it sort of like vanishes into the dark.

So this little disgusting hole is the main weapon of vampire squid where it excretes confusing phosphorescent particles to allow its escape.

I didn't know such thing survived on earth after watching National Geographic's copyrighted video about vampire squid. There are so many things remain undiscovered and really, there's no doubt that we human have a wonderful planet.

† A Pet-Friendly Home †

Many pet owners would love to keep their pets in the house but are those pets happy to be kept in the house? Or rather these pets would prefer to stay outside and have their own freedom and living spaces? Better Homes & Gardens and Asahi Kasei have provided some creative and innovative ideas of designing comfortable living spaces for indoor pets.

The resting area is designed in such way that it greatly reduces the traffic flow in the house. The pets will automatically move to the corner of the house enjoying their personal sleeping cushion.

Food store, is designed in the form of drawer so that the drawer can store a bulk whole of pet food.

This feeding drawer is an interesting design where the pet food can be placed inside the drawer and prevent the messy pet food to be exposed outside.

Another feeding drawer for the pets. Can be easy to manage and when the pets are done, just slide the drawer back.

† Exotic Pets In KL & East Coast Region †

Brian has always been in loved with exotic pets such as pythons, lizards, spiders, etc... Selling hardcore pets is now Brian's part time job and he covers Kuala Lumpur as well as East Coast region (Kuantan, Terengganu and Kelantan).

I visited Brian's shop recently and the first thing that caught my attention was these two reptiles. They were roughly 50cm in length and interestingly they have small spikes on their body. I didn't dare to touch it but another friend of mine did it.

They may look like dinosaurs but they eat and chew like a lizard. Earth worm is their favourite food and I guess Brian has to feed 5 - 6 worms to them per meal.

Snakes are commonly seen in Brian's shop and personally I think I got a little bit freaked out by the snakes.

So here we have Brian's favourite. According to him, a python's cost range is really huge. It may cost from RM400 up to a six-digit range depends on the species, as well as the age.

Brian holding his python but the python was camera shy I guess and it curled up.

So here's the closer view of his python. I actually couldn't believe that I've touched it with my own hand because that was my first time touching a real snake.

I have no idea how Brian does it, he can get you almost anything including dogs, cats, monkeys and even skunk. There was once I asked him about the giant ant eater and he say it is possible for him to get me one. Of course I wouldn't want to keep a giant ant eater in my room. So in case you're interested in purchasing these exotic pets, Brian will be more than willing to offer you a good price as well as delivery services.

† Golden Poison Dart Frog †

I was searching over the internet looking for information regarding vinca alkaloids, a medication in a class of anticancer drugs that inhibit cancer cell growth by stopping cell division at the mitosis stage. However one of my Google search caught my attention where the word alkaloids leads me to "Alkaloid Poison of Golden Poison Dart Frog".

So what is this little Golden Poison Frog? Yes if you can see from the picture, its gold in color and that explains its name. Its scientific name given Phyllobate Terribillis and it can be found in the rain forest at the Colombia region.

The poison carried by this frog is an alkaloid poison known as batrachotoxin. This what we called batrachotoxin is a nerve impulse inhibitor that causes prevention of nerve transmission, leaving the muscles in an inactivated form in another word: paralyze. Such effect can be life threatening because it can further leads to heart failure as well as fibrillation.

A Golden Poison Dart Frog averagely carries up to 1mg of the poison and it is believed that each 1mg of the poison is sufficient to kill up to 15 humans, or maybe 2 African bull elephants. Imagin how many humans will be killed if 1g of poison is used? Interestingly, its poison wasn't generated by itself. It is believed that such accumulation of poison is due to its long term ingestion of poisonous insects.

This little creature may be dangerous but personally I think human can be more dangerous than anything else in the world because along with the rise of human nation and development of technology, we've seen many species have becoming endangered.

† Dognster †

Here we have a scary dognster. So what makes a dognster? Its pretty easy to guess: Dog + Monster = Dognster~ *sweat*

I have no idea what kind of breed is this dog or how this dog is produced. Bear + Wolf + Dog? >.<
"where is the enemy!?"

"I sensed the enemy!"

"pathetic inferior human! prepare to die!!"

"argh... let me go you stupid bitch!"

"it hurts! let me go!"

"you better watch up stupid human for I'm the king here!"

It seems that the owner is having a hard time training her dognster. Wonder how its bark sounds like.

"what are you looking at noob!!??"
